Senator Larry Craig Apparently Not Sorry For Lewd Conduct. Alleged Lewd Conduct Update 8-29-07

Senator Does Not Appear Sorry!

Thanks to the AP

Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, pleaded guilty earlier this month to a charge of disorderly conduct. He had been arrested at an airport and charged with lewd conduct in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis Airport. (He now says he regrets his decision to plead guilty!)

Larry Craig is a three-term senator who is up for re-election next year. He hasn't said if he will run for a fourth term in 2008. A spokesman, Sidney Smith, said it is too early to know if Craig's guilty plea would affect his re-election plans."It's too early to talk about anything about that," Smith said. Sorry Senator, it is later then you think!

Update 8-29:
Craig pleaded guilty on August 8 to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct. The arresting plainclothes officer (Karsnia) alleges that Craig entered the stall next to him and blocked the door with his suitcase."My experience has shown that individuals engaging in lewd conduct use their bags to block the view from the front of their stall... The senator then tapped his right foot, "a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct," Karsnia reported. Craig ran his left hand several times underneath the partition dividing the stalls. He also moved his right foot so that it touched the side of the officer's left foot. The senator apparently initially resisted the officer's request to go to the police station. Congress will investigate the Senator's conduct.

He needs to take a lesson from Mike Vick. Say you are sorry and that you have turned to Jesus.

This Senator should get thrashed in any reelection!

Remember Legal Pub's caveat "they are innocent until proven guilty."

Oh yeah, he already pled guilty and now he wishes he had not...

To the senator:
It's the hypocrisy, stupid.

The so called moral majority are on a down ward slide!

Forget about the moral majority for a moment. Forget about party affiliation. For some reason, we have members of our government who are apparently cracking under pressure. Think about it! One Congressman explodes at an airport. Another Congressman apparently takes matters "into his own hands" at another air port.

The common denominator is either congress or air ports.

I hope Larry Craig washes his hands before he shakes other people's hands at the political rallies!

Larry Craig swears he is not gay. Claims he should not have plead guilty. What happened to the show remorse Michael Vick, Harrell Braddy defense?

It appears to me that Officer Karsnia lied several times in his interviews with Senator Craig. He made several assurances that he was not going to arrest Craig, etc. I think he also entrapped Craig and played "bully pulpit" once he found out that Craig was a Senator.
Karsnia is the one that should be punished.

To anonymous, I would like to encourage you to leave a nick name or initial so that posters can address you. That was an excellent post. On Ms.Calabaza blog, I too commented on the entrapment issue.

After listening to the tape, I suspected that Craig had a defense of entrapment. Unfortunately, he plead guilty. Why plead guilty if you are innocent? I suspect he wanted to avoid publicity, but we all know how well that worked out.

Over the years, I have heard suspects say that they were not gay but were "weak." And when they were in a weakened state, they did something they would not normally do because they were enticed or entrapped. While they normally would not act on such temptations, given their weakened state they did not resist.

Personally, I do not think this is a defense to the moral issues, but it may be a legal defense to the crime. Unfortunately, Craig plead guilty.

today. Wish him the best in his new career because his political career is over.
