In Berlin, no one can ever say Margaret Wegner did not use her head. For 55 years she had a pencil lodged in her head. The pencil apparently caused chronic headaches and nosebleeds.
On Friday, Dr. Hans Behrbohm, took most of it out. The operation was difficult because it was an old injury. The remaining four-fifths of an inch pencil that could not be removed does not pose a danger according to Dr. Behrbohm.
Wegner is the wife of German boxing coach Ulli Wegner. Hopefully, she will no longer have the headaches and nosebleeds. Her sense of smell should also return according to Dr. Behrbohm.
Now we all know why our Mom's always told us not to run around with pencils in our hand!

Poor woman. I wonder if she will begin having problems from the remaining part of the pencil? Maybe she better get the lead out and seek a second opinion.

What a lucky lady. Hope she is feeling better.
Why did she wait so long? She should have GOT THE LEAD OUT!
Punster, are you certain that "drawing this out" was not a good thing? After all, she always had an extra pencil during her school days.

Head aches are no laughing matter. Can you imagine how greatfull she is if the surgery "erases" this problem.
She was always a bright woman. She was often "sharp as a tack." Definitely the sharpest one in the crayola pack...
Rather "heady" response but I prefer to think that this woman kept her ego in check and did not get a swollen head over this incident and resulting surgery.
She needs to get the "lead out" and get on with her life!
She is not a lead bottom, she is a lead head...
I hope if she reads this story about her, she laughs as the comments are meant to brighten up her day and bring levity to what otherwise would be a very serious topic.
Pretty funny, really.
I have to say, I really enjoyed the comments. This is one of the better written stories which was sent to Legal Pub. On a personal note, I really hope that Margaret Wegner is doing better and that she can smile when she reads some of the jokes.
This should have been the story of the year!

After I read the story, I took the pencil off the back of my ear and got a pocket protector like all the other good nerds...

We all hope Margaret Wegner has had a full recovery!
This should have been story of the year in 2007!
After removing the lead that had been present for over 55 years, I will bet she felt LIGHT HEADED!
With all these jokes, what are you thinking? You all have a hole in your heads?
This should have been the story of the year! Ralph
