Athletic Stars Are Sometimes Victims Too

Miami Heat forward Antoine Walker may be rethinking his decision to live in Chicago. Monday his home was robbed. Walker was also previously robbed in 2000. In the recent robbery, two thugs held Walker and at least one other person at gunpoint during the robbery. Walker lives in Chicago's River North neighborhood. Walker's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed the robbery to the A.P. "There was a robbery. It's a scary thing. It's a terrible thing. He's trying to get himself back together. Police are there and he's getting it taken care of." A vehicle, cash and jewelry were reported stolen.

In July 2000, Walker was robbed along with NBA center Nazr Mohammed as they sat in a car on Chicago's South Side. Walker is a Chicago Native who is a three-time All-Star. He averaged 8.5 points with Miami this past season. Walker played an integral part in Miami's run to the 2006 NBA championship.

I know very little about Antoine Walker. But no one should have to go through a robbery at gun point of their own home. I hope they punish the crooks to the max.

Cartoonist can be victims too. Thought I would also share under this topic that Doug Marlette , the Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, died in a one car accident. He created the cartoon Kudzu. He recently started a career as a novelist. He died Tuesday at the age of 57.

Lightening strikes twice! Normally I don't feel sorry for stars, but I do this time.

He probably had insurance for his goods. But insurance will not get rid of that scared feeling...
