When the ship docked in San Diego, Robert McGill was taken into custody by the FBI. He is charged with killing his wife, Shirley McGill age 55, while on the cruise. The ship departed on Saturday, July 11 and spent two days in Cabo San Lucas. As the ship was headed back to San Diego around 8 or 9 p.m., the staff responded to an alleged domestic dispute. When the staff opened the cabin door, they found the body of 55-year old Shirley McGill. Robert McGill was found outside the cabin. Robert was detained on the ship until the FBI arrested him. Robert McGill faces charges of murder on the high seas.
The McGills apparently married four years ago. Shirley McGill worked for the DMV. Robert McGill is apparently employed by LA county as a high school counselor at a continuation school. He has two grown sons from a previous marriage.
