Mysteries almost always make for great press. Before we solve the 2008 mystery of the Legal Pub's Top story for 2008 and other awards, let's address the report of lights in the sky over northern England. It did happen. There were scores of phone calls to media outlets over the holidays. Everyone keeps asking each other if they saw the lights. In fact, to not have seen the lights almost created a social stigma. (Oh what a change from the days of Roswell.) For example, Deborah Wilkin saw two lights on Christmas Day in Urswick. "They were hovering in the sky for about five minutes and then they moved and just went," she reported. The North West Daily Mail actually published the solution to the mystery. Andrea Hodgson, 36, told the press that "I saw the letter in the paper and had a bit of a chuckle to myself when I read it because I knew straight away that people had seen our lanterns."
(Hodgson, her husband and their wedding guests released 50 orange, candle-lit Chinese lanterns into the sky at a reception on the evening of Dec. 27.) The lanterns rose in the air and burned for 10 to 20 minutes and then extinguish. Britain's Ministry of Defense in June revealed that lanterns were also the explanation for other sightings last year. With the solving of Brittain's UFO mystery, we now turn to 2008 Legal Pub Awards:

Thanks for the award. :) Really, it is nice to hang with the readers on Legal Pub like every one else without being singled out or hounded.
And I definitely think Ms. Calabaza is still tops!
Shell
LP,
all your posts deserve awards!
Shell, we enjoy having you!
Ms. C., you do a great job. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Katfish rocks!
Jester
Floating lanterns LOL. I saw a picture of them. Are the English not concerned about starting fires?
LP, I thank you again for the recognition, but the reason I am posting today is your story of the year.....very interesting....somehow I missed that one. I will come back and read the whole thing later, with all the comments it's more of a novel than a posting. I would say it has definately struck a nerve!
Congrats to all of the winners!!!
LP, are you guys going to cover the story of the 12 year old that shot his mother 8 times after an argument over his chores????
Secrets, thinking about reporting on the case tomorrow. If you have any insights, email us at:
