Bonnie Sweeton Apparently Faked Her and Her Daughter's Abduction

Some folks might not admit it; however, domestic relations problems appear to be at the root of another instance of socially unacceptable behavior. Bonnie Sweeton, a 38 year old Pennsylvania woman, called 911 to report that she and her daughter had been abducted. It apparently was not true. Bonnie is now charged with making a false report and identity theft. Police found Bonnie and her 9 year old child, Julia Rakoczy at a Disney resort in Florida.

Bonnie Sweeten had originally told the police that she and her daughter were kidnapped after two men in a Cadillac rear-ended her sport-utility vehicle in Upper Southampton. She then said that they were being held in the trunk of the Cadillac. Sweeten was arrested at Disney in Orlando on Wednesday. Sweeten awaits extradition. Alleged kidnap victim found.

Sweeten's daughter is in state custody until her biological father picks her up. Sweeten withdrew about $12,000 and obtained a driver's license from a co-worker to buy airline tickets. She and her daughter then traveled under false names. Police spokes person Henry said, "We believe there were some domestic problems." Surprise. Surprise!

This sounded so scary when it first hit the news. Then it turns out to be just a hoax.

Here is the messed up thing about all of this, the response this got from just about everyone. Just think about the time wasted, because of this woman's "fib"! I won't even go into how wrong she was for claiming that it was two "black men" that kidnapped her and her daughter. I don't care how bad her domestic situation was, there is no excuse for her actions. "Oh...things are really bad at home, so I'm going to disney world with ONLY ONE of my daughters!" WTF??!???

Amen Mr. NoFace ... really disturbing. I hope she can be charged with something so she might just learn a lesson.

Would it have been better if she said the abductors were Hispanic? Chinese? Latino? Native American?

What is the significance of the race of any fabricated perpetrator? Making up or faking like you are a victim of a crime is wrong regardless of the race of the imaginary assailant.

I am with Noface. Why is it always people got to make up something about a brother?

Women are at a disadvantage, so all that they do to get on equal grounds with skum bag men is fair.

Wow, Ian. Glad you thought I might be interested. But no thanks. I have crashed riding the wave of marriage and no way I will ever put my assets (a pocket full of coins, a bag of recylclable aluminum cans and a sandy lap top) through the scrutiny of another divorce.

Anon, rent To Kill A Mockingbird, and google racial profiling...etc.

You'll find that black men are profiled and falsely accused on a daily basis and then come back and we can have a properly informed discussion on why NoFace mentioned that.

She accused black men because she understands that they are devalued and wrongly portrayed as evildoers lusting after white woman.

My favorite book was To Kill A Mocking Bird.

See, I disagree that this is NECESSARILY a racial thing.

Making up a random assailant by pulling out a description of an African male in Philadelphia would be 15 out of 100 (15% of the entire population including women.) 41% of the Philadelphia population is African American.

So merely claiming two perpetrators were black is not necessarily anything more then a random made up person. If the same accusation were made in a small African village populated by 97% native Africans, would any one claim the fabricated perpetrator was a product of racial bias? I think not.

Similar if the description was of two native Americans if the fabricated abduction took place on a reservation.

Personally, I had no clue Bonnie was white until i read the comments that Mr. No Face was offended. I still have yet to see a photo of the child or of the father to know the race of them. But it really shouldn't matter. It is wrong to make up false accusations about any one regardless of their race.

TA seriously ask yourself why she didnt say the assailant was white , Puerto Rican, Indian or some other race.......

Secrets, glad you asked this question. Because if the cops askedd for a description of the assailants and they were "white", they would ask a zillion questions as to hair color, eye color, skin tint etc. Right or wrong, they tend to ask a lot less about "African America assailants." Consequently, there is less to remember about what she lied about. (By the way, I heard she offered virtually no description of clothing or any physical characteristics other thatn "both assailants were black males."

By the way, before you get the wrong impression, I am NOT white!
