Teen Violence Documented On Internet Makes Prosecutor's Job Easier and Hopefully Sentences Longer Update 4-14-08~ by Legal Pub

Girls are truly equal to boys. Unfortunately, equality brings a lot of negative problems. One is violence and the attitude that violence is justified. In 2003, 25 percent of high school girls said they had been in a physical fight during the previous 365 days according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (The figure for boys was 40.5 percent.)
A 2006 Justice Department report showed that by age 17, 21 percent of girls said they had assaulted someone with the intent to cause serious harm. A search of You Tube reveal hundreds of fights. Hundreds of blogs contain threats and describe fights.
You have the Florida cheerleader being beat by 8 other teen age girls. You have Jolita Berry, a teacher, being beat by a female student. With the increase in violence, the intelligence factor has declined. Not only are the teens becoming more violent, they are stupid enough to post evidence of the same on the internet. For all those convicted of such violence, Legal Pub advocates a prolonged vacation at the expense of the tax payers in prison. Let these teens finish their education in a controlled environment behind bars. If they wish to act like animals, then let them be trained liked animals. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty. However, with all the internet evidence of violence, suspects may be making the prosecutor's job a little too easy.
Update: 4-14- 08 Courts and prosecutors are starting to listen. Bail for each of the eight teen defendants has apparently been set at $30,000 each. There is an allegation that a Dr. Phil staff member bailed out one of the suspects, Marcedes Nichols. Apparently seven of the girls will be tried as adults because of the March 30 attack in Lakeland, Fla. They may face charges of kidnapping, battery and witness tampering. For the names of defendants and their photos, follow the link.
The more I see of the raw video and hear the poor defenseless girl's screams for mercy, the angrier I get. I know that teens make mistakes. But to continue to beat a defenseless girl is inexcusable. This is worse then any animal cruelty that I have seen. To the teens that suggest such a beating is justifiable, I sincerely hope that a bunch of your fellow teens never execute such barbaric justice on you.

In the Florida teenager beating, suspects range in age from 14 to 18. All face charges of kidnapping, which is a first-degree felony, and battery according to Chip Thullbery, a spokesman for the Polk County state attorney. Six will likely be tried as adults. Three are also charged with tampering with a witness. Some could face life in prison if convicted!

Let them spend eternity behind bars. The continued beating of this girl was cruel!

Hey LP,

Hillary Clinton's Terre Haute headquarters has been destroyed by fire. Clinton was returning to the Hoosier state Saturday to make appearances at Allison Transmission, Inc. in Indianapolis and AM General in Mishawaka. Sen Clinton will also stop in Valparaiso. WTHI-TV say the blaze broke out just after 12:30 a.m. this morning in the Westaff Office Building. Obama comes to Terre Haute tonight to speak at T.H. North High School.

Indiana is a happening state.

I may post some photos later. Fires are so common in Indiana that it seems like half the town is either a fire fighter or a volunteer fire fighter...

Disco inferno is taking away from the topic of condemming teen violence!

Maybe it was a teen that set the fire? Ever think of that? If so, comments are right on point. WINK

horrible stats on teen violence!

I'll say it again. I think they should throw those little b*tches under the jail. That was so hateful and mean.

If that was my kid, I'd be in jail.

With regard to the fire. I wouldnt be surprised if they set it themselves.

Just saw a news clip of the girls as the judge set down the conditions of their release - from their faces, I'd guess that this is the first time they've faced a consequence as a result of bad behavior. Sullen, angry, 'Oh yeah?!' looks.

They don't seem to 'get it' - the judge has total power over their lives right now. She won't back down the way mama and papa did.

Reality 101. Big time.

Why would “dr” phil show bond out this evil teen just to get her on their show? Now “dr” phil show have decided not to do the show. Great but this evil animal is loose when she could have still been locked up in her cage. “dr” phil, you are an idiot. As for the Florida 8 teens accused, I hope that if you are found guilty that you all get at least 40 years in jail since you might only actually serve 60 % of that. These teens make me sick. And any one who tries to rationalize their behavior is disgusting.

Why did Dr. Phil not contribute to the victim's medical expenses instead of wasting it on one of the accused?

L.P. This video makes me sick. How can any sane person repeatedly beat a defenseless person? These girls should get maximum charges and sentences. At 17 you should know right from wrong and you should be held responsiible for your actions.

They should all be tried criminally as adults. Then the parents of the beaten girl should sue each child and parent individually in civil court.I hope they get a good civil lawyer and these teens and parents pay dearly. Want to be a gang banger? Then pay both a criminal and a civil price!

The sad thing is that they don't seem to feel much remorse based on the little that I have seen and read in the news. That reminds me of a possible sociopath.I hope I am wrong. We don't need juvenile delinquents on the streets. Anyone that could beat a defenseless person is insane, cruel, and disturbed in my opinion. I don't think rehabilitation could help them but I hope I am wrong. If I am right, lock them up and throw away the key.

Nichol's mother apparently defended her daughter's action. To me the mother is either out of touch or she too needs help!

Anonymous said...

One of the fathers blamed the internet for his daughter being violent. A mom apparently acted angry that the victim wrote "all in jail hahahaha" on her myspace. I hope they throw the book at these kids.

On other sites I have seen such crap as "It is blown out of proportion" "My child wasn't involved" "It was her fault she couldn't back up what she said" and "It was a one on one beating."

It is not a one on one fight when the other side gets to take turns on who is beating you. It is not a one on one fight when you don't fight back and beg to be allowed to leave. It is not a fair fight to have 5 other girls just waiting for you to swing back so they can pin it all on you.

Parents, it appears that you need to take responsibility for how poorly you have raised your children!

These girls must be very mean, I agrre, but also VERY stupid! I mean these teenagers need to learn how to make responsible choices! Its one thing to get in a fight and reapeatedly beat someone, but how stupid are they to make a video about it and post it on myspace! They should have thought of the consequences!

You are right B.K. Everyone needs to think about the consequences of their actions.

Too much wrestle mania on T.V.?

They need to send a message to these teenagers that lasts the rest of their life. If I were the prosecutor, I'd give them each 20 years with the possibility of parole. And they have to do every year of the 20. I'd also make them write 10,000 sentences a day for that 20 years: "I will not hit another person ever again."

I hear you Giz.

I think this type of violence will only stop with severe penalties.
