The Unemployed And Abduction Victims Have Begun Fighting Back!

Today's news contains some silver linings. The number of unemployment claims has dropped to the lowest level since 2008. The number of new jobs created in the U.S. has inched up in the right direction. And, a nine year old girl demonstrates why it is essential that children refuse to be victims. With great bravery, Calysta Cordova avoided a horrible tragedy by escaping her abductor. Consequently, Jose Garcia, 29, is now arrested on charges of allegedly kidnapping the nine year-old girl. KMGH

Calysta Cordova, was snatched Thursday as she walked home from her school in Colorodo. Garicia's truck broke down so he made the Calysta hitchhike with him to a gas station in Colorado Springs. Calysta ceased a moment of opportunity and ran into the station and told an employee to phone her uncle. The attendant say her bruised face and called 911. Calysta refused to go with Garcia and shouted, "I ain't goin' nowhere. I'm waiting right here for my mama."

Apparently Calista had two black eyes and bruises on her cheek. When she shouted in the station, her abductor ran away. Suspect Jose Garcia, 29, was arrested at a bus stop several miles away. He is accused of abducting and abusing the child. Garcia apparently was the girl's next-door neighbor.

The economy and victims starting to fight back is great news. Perhaps 2012 will be a great year after all.

Update 1-24-12: A North Carolina woman has caught the spirit of fighting back. Victoria Alexis Jones was in her home with two small children when 40-year-old Lucio Miranda allegedly broke in. When Miranda refused to leave and was about to grab her, Victoria beat him senseless with a wooden bed post. "...The only thing I knew to do was to protect and defend my family. It just so happened I have an old bed with a solid wood oak post, and it was loose."
