When tragedy strikes, folks are quick to blame others. Sometimes the scrutiny must fall on one's self. In Sandusky, Ohio, a toddler has drowned. One can only hope that this tragedy will inspire others to watch their children more closely. The 3-year-old was from Michigan. He was found face down in a children's pool at Kalahari Resorts water park. The boy, Hassan Itani,
Capt. Paul Sigsworth of the Erie County Sheriff's office called the death a "tragic accident." was playing with his older brother around the poo when his mom lost sight of him. The pool was approximately 3 feet deep.
This is just one of many unfortunate accidents where parents momentarily lose track of their children.

Sad way to usher in the end of summer.
It only takes a moments glance away for tragedy to strike.
Where were the life guards?
Typical blame someone else! Lifeguards can't watch everyone.
sometimes bad things happen to nice folks...
no u shouldnt blam anyone else ... im hassan's aunt and i know that my sisters watches and takes care of her kids more than any other mother i know .... lifeguards are there for a reason and at that moment they obviously werent doing there job !
Seems like children should be requred to wear floats on their arms if they are under 5 and not allowed to go in water over their heads.
I go to Myrtle Beach every year and there are no lifeguards on duty around the pools or lazy rivers. It is up to the parents to monitor their kids. I'm not blaming his parents because we don't know the details.
Watch your children all the time every day when out in public. besides such a sad accident as this situation, there are also people watching you watch your children...turn your head and they will snatch them up and take them away...don't ever let your guard down!
treat kid like the valuable comodity that they are
I was at the park that day and left around 2:30 with my own 3 year old you can't possibly have been watching him setting on a chair around the pool. I was besdie mine for 2 days there. The latest report says that his mother was sitting on a lounge chair watching them.

I have a 3 yr old. My heart and soul go out to his parents and family. Our prayers are with all of you.
For the those of you quick to judge others...I pray for you too.
A momentary closing of the eyes while relaxing and a child can be in harms way.
Life guards are good, but you can't expect them to take the place of parents.
My heart goes out to the family.
U can't take your eyes off dem kids or they be gone in a flash
i have 3 kids and there is no way i can watch all three kids at the same time 24/7. This lady had another son in the pool. She may have turned for a split second to check on her other son and lost sight of the 3 year old. Nobody is perfect. I was watching Oprah and a mother left her 2 year old daughter in the car for 6 hours! the girl died from the heat. Apparently, the mother was suppose to drop her off at day care. the daughter fell asleep and the mother FORGOT that her daughter was in the car. She went down to her work (teacher) and never remembered her daughter in the car. Nobody ever blamed this mother for anything. The mother was the victim according to authorities, oprah and everybody else. I think some people are being racist in this case. My heart and prayers go out to the family. The worst thing in life is to lose a child. God help the parents get through this. Allahyirhamu.
The parents have enough to deal with after losing a child. Lets not forget that officials are saying that there was not enough life guards on duty and that there have been several disiplines to kalahare waterpark over that past few years. They were warned about not having enough lifeguards before. Nobody is to blame honestly. It's very sad but this kind of stuff happens everyday. its unfortuanate. My heart goes out to the family.
Actually the reports say that there were more than enough lifeguards on duty, just to correct your previous statement. It is not our job to judge. Just pray for all involved and quit playing the blame game. It won't get anyone anywhere.
RACE has nothing to do with who is to blame!
I smell a good law suit coming out of this WRONGFUL DEATH. (For the sight impaired.)
Dollar Bill
a law suit?!?!? that is sick! these folks just lost a child! no amount of money is gonna replace that.
Might be sick, but Bill is right. I expect a settlement with the parks insurer or it will be litigation central.
I WAS THERE!!! My daughter and I watched the life guard blow the whistle and jump in to save this little boy as soon at he saw him. He did everything correct. I watched(with in 8ft of them/from where I was sitting)perform CPR. I am a parent of 2 kids. I know it take just a quick moment for your kids to take off. The thing that makes me so mad is that there were life jackets everywhere!!!! Free!!! All the parent had to do is put in on him if he did not know how to swim. That is pure lazyness!!! Why would you take that chance as a parent with your childs life!!!
Great point Nicole! Life jackets are free and need to be put on any nonswimmer. If the jacket is on, this might not have happened!
What a sad event.
i am a lifeguard there and we were doing our jobs. there are hundreds of other people we were watching and someone did notice the boy, blew the whistle and jumped in and performed cpr. we have lifevests and he should of had one on if he was only 3 and especially if she was gonna let him go out in the distance and not be right by her side. if she was watching so closely like she said then why did the lifeguards get there faster than she did. ya these kinds of things happen quickly but when your drowning like that you would notice your child splashing around for his life. she must of had her eye off him for a while....
As a former life guard I agree. Life guards do what they can. Parents still have the duty to supervise their own toddlers!
The parents have sued for $75,000 for this incident.
