Chicago area police are not new to the concept of bad publicity. Who could forget the Sylvia Broadway incident? LINK So why should we be surprised when the Oak Park officers once again step in a pile of dung? It is hard to sugar coat the news when a 95 year-old at a Chicago senior living community is shot to death with a bean-bag gun for refusing medical
treatment. (You can't make this stuff up. So you don't think you need medical help? Bam. Now that your shot, you sure as hell do.)
Police were called in when the 95 year-old, John Warna, refused medical help. They ended up killing Warna with a bean-bag
gun. Chicago Tribune On Friday night, officers were called to the nursing home to help a private ambulance crew deal with
a "combative" resident being "involuntarily" sent for medical treatment. In the officer's defense, John Warna
allegedly threatened them with a metal cane and a 2-foot metal shoehorn. When the 95 year-old allegedly refused to drop these deadly weapons, police shot Warna with a Taser. When the electrical jolt allegedly failed to knock him down, the officers opened fire with a bean-bag round. Warna, who previously refused medical attention, was now in need of treatment. He was still conscious when he was taken to
the hospital; however, he later died of internal bleeding due to
blunt-force trauma to the abdomen, caused by the bean-bag.
Look for a law suit!

Perhaps a bit over the top?
I don’t care what they say…this guy with the bean-bag gun is not qualified to be a cop. Nothing less than removed from the force. Talk about over the top!!
What is of interest is this bad cop’s prior qualifications…was he a Vet? Anger Management problems?
A friend of a friend just out of high school?
The first question I would like to see answered on this travesty is, by what authority was he being compelled to undergo medical care? Was there a court order? Medical power of attorney? Are the reports that this "medical treatment" was to have been a risky operation that could have entailed non-success and life support true? What is the deal on those questions? Can I look forward to you updating this story sir?
Here is video link. http://badcopsoncamera.com/america/police-kill-95-year-old-man-accidentally/
I wasn't at the scene. Maybe the cops were justified. But common sense suggests exhausting all alternatives before one Tasers or shoots a soon to be 96 year-old The police version and the version that questions whether John Wrana was killed unnecessarily are conflicting.
The Park Forest police version is that John Wrana, a resident of the Victory Centre senior living facility, threatened staff and paramedics with a 2-foot-long metal shoehorn and a metal cane. Not mentioned is that the old man used a walker according to photographs supplied by Grapsas, the family lawyer.
"Attempts were made verbally to have the resident comply with demands to drop the articles, to no avail," the police statement reads. "The resident then armed himself with a 12-inch butcher type kitchen knife."
But Wrana's family apparently never saw a knife in his room and the staff also allegedly never knew him to own such a knife. So was the staff under threat?
It seems to be the real question.
This is great!
