Chalk One Up For The Good Guys And One For The Terrorists.

The escape of 450 Taliban fighters captured during the U.S. campaign was mitigated by the news of a failed hijacking of a plane. Flight 329, an Air Bus from Paris to Rome was interrupted when Valery Tolmachev, 48, held what appeared to be a knife to a flight attendant's neck. He demanded that the plane be diverted to Libya. Fortunately, the other flight attendants kicked his @ss and restrained him in his seat. A doctor on board apparently also sedated the man for the remainder of the flight.

The man was described as "agitated." The plane landed safely in Italy and the would be hijacker has been arrested. Tolmachev had no previous criminal record. In fact, he was known to have lived in Italy and worked at UNESCO. The flight attendant was treated for minor injuries and released. This good news definitely softens the blow of 460 Taliban escapees. The escape underscores a growing concern that the local government in the south is losing control.

Update 4-26-11: 65 of the 460 escaped Taliban fighters were recaptured.

Update 5-2-11: First the Royal wedding comes off with out a hitch and now we know that bin Laden has been killed. Navy seals invaded a mansion in Pakistan where bin Laden had been enjoying "the good life." No American deaths were associated with the raid. In sum, we can thank President Obama for a good weekend. First Gaddafi's compound was bombed disrupting his tyrannous plans for a pleasant weekend and then Osama bin Laden was buried at sea. The burial was respectfully performed in accordance with Muslim beliefs.

It is now up to the world to decide if it is ready for peace.

Good to see it is getting harder to hijack a plane.

True, but bad to see that our government dollars spent to capture Taliban are being wasted with "jail breaks."

it is an ongoing battle with no clear winner or loser at this point in time.

Yeah, but it sounds like the fox is left to guard the chicken coop in Afiganistan

Good article. Count me in as a regular.

Update 4-26-11: Perhaps in an attempt to mitigate damages, the Afghan government announced that it has recaptured 65 of the escaped prisoners. That only leaves 415 escaped lunatics on the run.

Q: What did one terrorist say to the other terrorist before boarding their respective airplanes?
A: I slam, you slam, we all slam for Islam!

There is a warning that Irish republican groups maybe plotting attacks in Northern Ireland during the wedding of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton on Friday (29.04.11).

William is the second-in-line to the throne. The Irish republican groups in Belfast and Londonderry in Northern Ireland would be best served to realize that the Royal family really has little power in the U.K. and that they would be best served by electing sympathetic politicians.

Update 4-27-11: The Royal wedding will coincide with a heightened terrorist warning. Security will be high for the wedding but vulnerability in all parts of the world continues to be exploited. For example, terrorists, described as “armed gangs,” attacked the Egyptian-Israeli gas pipeline this morning. The attack interrupted supplies to Israel. This was the third attack this year.

Wedding pulled off without any major mishaps.

So anyway, about this tunnel. I have read that it was dug from the outside from a construction site that was funded with US Dollars. This tunnel was so efficient it makes the great escape tunnel of WWII fame look like a sandbox tunnel. It was high enough the escapees could walk upright, (mood) lighting, (AC) fans for fresh oxygen. They probably had a meet and greet with coffee and donuts at the other end. No need to worry about hiding the tunnel dirt in the compound since it was trucked away from the construction site outside the compound…WTF !

Growing rumor I heard was that the escape was allowed in return for access to Bin Lauden.

gonna be impossible to prove that anon.

China's Foreign Ministry has renewed its call for a ceasefire in Libya after reports that a NATO airstrike killed the son of leader Moammar Gadhafi, saying it is concerned about civilian casualties in the fighting there.

bin Laden's courier led U.S. intelligence to a walled compound in Pakistan. A team of Navy SEALs than entered the compound and shot bin Laden.

This was the culmination of years of intelligence work.

al-Qaida's No. 3 leader, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, gave authorities the nicknames of bin Laden's couriers.

And who said water-boarding doesn't work?

Anonymous said...

In the gunfight inside the compound bin Laden showed his cowardliness by using a woman as a human shield.

Anonymous said...

Despite the human shield, a SEAL killed bin Laden with a bullet to the head. May he rest in hell.

A small U.S. strike team, dropped by helicopter to bin Laden's hide-out near the Pakistani capital of Islamabad under cover of night, shot the al Qaeda leader dead with bullets to the chest and head. He did not return fire.
Also, his wife was wounded not killed. The companion killed was not his wife.
And she was not used as a human shield.

I’m suspicious of the body being buried at sea before anybody outside the military could confirm this kill.
If you remember, after Sadams sons were killed the MSM was allowed to view and photograph their bodies, that were than posted everywhere.

Since Bin Laden is probably already dead as rumored and why the last administration cared less about finding him. This guy was probably the shorter, fatter double who was making all the video’s, the spook that Cheney and his Halliburton needed to keep the war going and windfall profits from their no bid contracts.

Maybe they can end this war now but I doubt it since those afghan hills are filled with so many minerals that the west needs.

Video G. You may be on to something. But I think it probably was him. They just didn't want martrys to make pilgrimages to the body.

bin Laden did not even have a gun when he was executed.

Here is a link to a story about Bin Laden. I had read similar stories about him years ago.

Tunnel Update:

Well, I did see some video of the tunnel. Though it did have lighting and fresh air pumped into it, it was not large enough for one to walk upright, they had to crawl. It exited at a privet residence and not a construction site. This residence looked similar to Bin Laden’s compound, surrounded by walls. I did not see piles of dirt in the courtyard so I imagine it was still trucked out.

One suspects that it was done with the approval of at least the Afighan government and maybe even the u.s.

Al-Qaida confirmed Osama bin Laden's death. It issued a statement saying that Americans' "happiness will turn to sadness." Documents found in bin Laden's residence revealed al-Qaida plans for derailing an American train on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attack.

I heard all that as well Legal…they also said they planned on blowing up some bridges too. I say good, our bridges are falling down due to neglect any way, we need some new ones.

The terrorist may just find out about country justice. they commit an act or two more on our soil and they may find out what it means when we round up a posse.

Something that has always bothered me about these Al-Qaida terrorist. As one can see we go after the head of the snake...their leaders. So why do they not go after our leaders, or the corporate lobbyist who control them and their decisions?
Especially people from the military industrial complex?

Its not like access to them is all that hard...we never hear of threats made when a hawk politician is speaking at a home town meeting, or the DC bars the lobbyist congregate so frequently at being threatened.

The threats are always against we the people and public places.

Anonymous said...

probably because they know that we are selfish and more concerned with our own welfare than that of our political leaders.

Anony 1:39 PM
Than they would also know that we the people have no say in foreign policy, it is the politicians and their special interests that decide that. And it is our foreign policies that these terrorist are concerned with.

In the last 5 days, there have been four disturbances on airlines. The most troublesome was when a Yeman male passenger (Rageh Al-Murisi, 28,) tried to break into the cockpit shouting in Arabic. In all cases, passengers subdued the person causing the commotion. While all of these cases are not necessarily terrorist acts, the message is clear. U.S. passengers simply will no longer be passive victims. Al-Murisi faces one count of interfering with flight crew members and attendants.
