Tree Bandit A/K/A James Coldwell Leaves Behind Too Many Clues

You can not make up news this bizarre. In Manchester N.H. a man attempted to rob a bank disguised as a tree! This not so clever crook actually duct taped leaves to his head and torso . The fiasco is captured on video at the Citizen Bank in Manchester."He really went out on a limb," police Sgt. Ernie Goodno said Sunday. The unarmed man just demanded cash.

James Coldwell, 49, was arrested early Sunday at his Manchester home and charged with robbery.

  2. Or he was barking up the wrong tree, or he was just looking to transplant some funds, or he just forgot to leave..........

  3. Perhaps he was a want to be comedian who failed to read God is a Woman by Ian Coburn.Had he read the book, perhaps he would realize that a comedian's life is not all that glamourous. And a comedian dressed up like a tree who tries to rob a bank is not only the target of the police, he is also the target of every male dog in the city. (Explains the yellow discoloration seen in police photo mug shot.)

  4. You bet, Ms. Calabaza. But I think he was trying to branch out in the wrong direction.

Diversification is good, but sooner or later autumn was going to come along and he would thus lose his leaves thus exposing his bare identity.

Seriously, how could he possibly have thought this would work?

  6. Coldwell has gotten 15 minutes of fame out of this adventure. It may however lead to a year or two in the clink!

  7. Update: Rumor has it a dog and five birds are seeking to file a class action against the tree bandit for fraud. Apparently they did not like the fact that they were tricked into believing he was a tree.
