As if Virginia Tech has not had enough tragedy to last this century. Who could forget that the school was the site of a horrible massacre in 2008? LINK. This week, Haiyang Zhu, a graduate student from China, has been formally charged with murdering a female graduate student. She was fatally stabbed on Virginia Tech's campus Wednesday at Tech's Graduate Life Center. The unidentified female victim was also a graduate student. She apparently knew her attacker. Zhu was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
Arresting officers allegedly found Zhu and a knife they believe was used in the killing.Virginia Tech used a text message system and a bill board to warn students after the murder victim was discovered.
Zhu is to be presumed innocent until other wise proven.
Just another example of senseless violence.

VT has had a really couple of hard years. It's a great school, beautiful campus, awesome kids ... damn shame!

woa! Just saw another story about this...victim decapitated with a kitchen knife...that doesn't happen easily.... where 7 other students said Zhu and victim didn't appear to be arguing before incident. wtf?

ReplyDeleteI would feel less afraid if this was labeled a domestic situation....and not a situation where this guy just flipped out and cut off her head.
There's something about sudden psychosis without provocation that scares *ish out of me.
Not saying that anyone deserves to have their head cut off even if they were provoked.
