Grounding his daughter was determined to be too harsh of punishment. Quebec Superior Court rejected the Gatineau father's appeal of a lower court ruling that said his punishment was too severe. Needless to say, the appellant is "flabbergasted," according to his lawyer Kim Beaudoin. (see CBC News story.) For those interested, the province's court of appeal declared the girl was caught up in a "very rare" set of circumstances, and good old Dad didn't have sufficient grounds to contest the court's earlier decision.
Happy parenting...Legal Pubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03464130635305514783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-72839113444146252622009-01-12T13:38:00.000-06:002009-01-12T13:38:00.000-06:00Gotta feel kids are out of control because of this...Gotta feel kids are out of control because of this crap...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-66271398032283712372008-08-18T15:44:00.000-05:002008-08-18T15:44:00.000-05:00Fine example of why caning children is legal in so...Fine example of why caning children is legal in some countries!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-8993471168978409102008-07-28T09:51:00.000-05:002008-07-28T09:51:00.000-05:00And folks wonder why parenting has become so diffi...And folks wonder why parenting has become so difficult!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-15917103312334810672008-07-12T19:44:00.000-05:002008-07-12T19:44:00.000-05:00LOLLOLSecretshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17200854246853790826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-89225339415900485232008-07-09T20:18:00.000-05:002008-07-09T20:18:00.000-05:00Secret is holding back on us....JennySecret is holding back on us....

JennyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-33906871255506367622008-07-08T14:05:00.000-05:002008-07-08T14:05:00.000-05:00DISOBEDIENT, SPOILED CHILDREN GET ON MY DAMN NERVE...DISOBEDIENT, SPOILED CHILDREN GET ON MY DAMN NERVES!!

Hey Secrets,

let it all out . . . don't feel you need to hold back here!

tee-heeMs Calabazahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00054430444508465670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-68920196513253036302008-07-08T14:02:00.000-05:002008-07-08T14:02:00.000-05:00DISOBEDIENT, SPOILED CHILDREN GET ON MY DAMN NERVE...DISOBEDIENT, SPOILED CHILDREN GET ON MY DAMN NERVES!!

DIVORCED PARENTS NEED TO BE ON THE SAME PAGE WHEN IT COMES TO DISCIPLINING THE CHILD. This is a recipie for graft and corruption and only makes it profitable for the childrens attorneys to run to court on the smallest matters. I know of a case where the parents were ordered to pay a $1000 retainer to a court appointed lawyer in a dispute over soccer practice. The attorney for the child was the judges former partner!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-33377728257516207992008-06-30T12:59:00.000-05:002008-06-30T12:59:00.000-05:00I believe that children are given toooo many 'rig...I believe that children are given toooo many 'rights' and not enough responsibility, good role models, and consequences. Ms. Calbaza, I believe the lawyer was probably paid for by mom. What did she get out of it? Mom makes dad look bad and encourages disrespect of the father; therefore, the children like mom better. Sad, but true. It happens in too many cases. I agree that it is out of hand. Wake up parents! Act like adults and teach children right from wrong.
JFAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-34504599839003797382008-06-30T11:54:00.000-05:002008-06-30T11:54:00.000-05:00Hey LP,good luck on your trial . . . go get em!Hey LP,

good luck on your trial . . . go get em!Ms Calabazahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00054430444508465670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5166169592714997268.post-34381162761737426572008-06-30T11:53:00.000-05:002008-06-30T11:53:00.000-05:00Mr. Brodsky,I see a trend where people are getting...Mr. Brodsky,

I see a trend where people are getting tired of the Courts and Social Services telling them what to do and how to bring up children. It appears to have gotten out of hand in Canada. I also wonder why the parents would pay for the child's attorney? They tend to become “superparent”, and get involved in family disputes that they have no business dealing with. This is clearly undermining parental authority. Children in divorces shouldn’t have the authority to file motions against their parents. (Who paid the child’s lawyer? The parents, of course so there is a financial motive for a child’s lawyer to go to court over matters that the family should deal with.) I hope the appellate court reverses and gives the trial judge a slap on the wrist.
As to the second story, I don’t know for sure, but I would bet that drugs are involved. I have had cases where people who are addicted steal and rob family members to get money for their addictions. Sad but not uncommon.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
